Description
We don’t know whether it’s the calm nature of the colour blue against the white background or the strength of a woman with a child or her strong stance even though she’s sat down, that makes the ‘Obaatanpa’ painting so striking.
This piece reflects a common sight amongst many cities in Africa and always reminds us how beautiful, resilient and unstoppable women really are.
The word ‘Obaa’ translates to ‘woman’ in the Ghanaian Akan language of Twi. In the simplest of terms, ‘Obaatanpa’ means, “A graceful woman in the essence of motherhood”. She will care, provide and protect for hers whatever that may mean.
